WEAR YOUR ART
14-3-24 to 10-4-24 10 am-4 pm
@Arts INK apollo bay victoria australia
presented by ANNA REYNOLDS
‘Wear your art’ seeks to consider fabric as a precious commodity, heirloom item and artisan object.
Print is the hero on textile and wearable art champions natural and recycled fibre.
An exhibition imagined as a shop/studio and interactive space where audiences and participants can explore making their own textile in a series of workshops held in conjunction with the ‘pop up’ shop and artists making space.
An experience of retail, commerce and art exhibition will highlight the small scale maker’s life and product
Natural fibre, handwoven cloth and recycled fibre embellished with original and unique print and stitching are at the apex of this exhibition.
Printed artworks on fabric become windows into the artists own personal interpretation and cultural narratives of the world around her. Where over consumption and hyper forms of production and manufacturing have reduced most clothing to throw away culture, a more considered approach to fashion and function framed as art is now more relevant than ever before. This exhibition will engage audiences with lived experiences of making workshops, demonstrations and artist talks.
Digital print, screen print, block print, natural dying, hand painting, hand stitching, visible mending, slow stitching, embroidery, creative mark making experimenting with recycled fibres, threads and fixings
